i have never seen a herd of bison
i've never seen a single bison up close
but i know exactly what they smell like
there's something inside me
that can't be defined
by holding the right papers.
no matter what you think about me,
you can't change who i am.
it's not about picking sides,
it's about being true to myself.
if you can't hear the voices of your ancestors
maybe that's because
you are too busy telling everybody else
that their ghosts aren't real.
